Helping children build wellbeing habits at home
We were delighted to see the thoughtful new “myHappymind Home” bag. It is a simple way to help children take their wellbeing learning into family life. Inside the bag, children collect items that reflect their strengths or show something they are proud of. It is a lovely invitation for families to join the wellbeing journey.
Staff have already seen children using myHappymind strategies independently, which shows how quickly these habits become part of daily life.
Try this in your primary school:
- Create a rotating “Wellbeing Bag” for children to take home
- Add a short card explaining how families can support Happy Breathing or gratitude habits
- Encourage children to return with one thing that shows their strengths

Using playful moments to build your wellbeing culture
RJ, the much-loved school dog, wears his own myHappymind bandana. It is a small touch that has made a big impact on school culture. RJ’s bandana sparks curiosity and conversation, and he has become a gentle reminder of the culture of wellbeing being developed across the school.
Try this in your primary school:
- Involve school animals or mascots in wellbeing activities if you have them
- Add visual wellbeing cues in corridors or calming spaces

Helping children understand and manage their emotions
Rowan Class have been using myHappymind Places, a tool that helps children identify how they are feeling and what they need to feel settled again. Pupils have created personalised maps to show their strategies, from Happy Breathing to quiet corners or talking to a trusted adult.
Through using our Places tool children are becoming more confident in recognising what helps them feel their best, which is a core part of building resilience.
Try this in your primary school:
- Ask pupils to draw their own “happy place” and write down their own calming strategies
- Add these to a class display for quick reference

FAQs
myHappymind provides schools with a complete whole school wellbeing programme, that is ready-to-deliver, makes life easier for teachers and creates a coherent culture of wellbeing. It teaches children about how their brain works, and gives them practical life long wellbeing habits like Happy Breathing, gratitude activities and journaling. These tools help children develop emotional awareness and confidence. Schools develop a consistent culture and language of wellbeing.
Examples of quick interventions include wellbeing bags, calm corners, emotional regulation maps, and short breathing exercises. These activities are quick to use and benefit the whole class. We recommend that for the biggest impact on wellbeing, schools not only look at short term interventions, but also consider how they can develop a culture of wellbeing. Schools that do this see a significant long term impact on; wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and inclusion.
myHappymind goes further than one off mental health and wellbeing interventions, it teaches the science of the brain and gives children practical habits for life that support them to manage emotions, build resilience and develop healthy routines that also support learning. It’s a complete whole school programme that supports all children, including those with SEN and SEHM needs.
