myHappymind on the Go
Children who attend Butterflies Childminders have been enjoying their myHappymind stories wherever their day takes them! Making familiar stories available beyond planned learning time gives children more opportunities to revisit the characters, language and ideas they have been exploring through myHappymind. Whether it’s during a journey, a quiet moment or while out and about, stories can be a simple way to keep conversations about wellbeing going.Try this in your setting:
- Make myHappymind stories available for children to choose independently during quieter moments.
- Take a story with you on trips, journeys or outdoor adventures.
- myHappymind settings and schools can also access our Enhancements for Provision guidance and Sensory Tuff Tray resources.
Kindness Crowns
Cherry Tree Day Nursery have been bringing the School Readiness Programme to life by creating their very own Kindness Crowns! Creative activities are a brilliant way for young children to explore ideas through play and conversation. Making Kindness Crowns gives children an opportunity to think about what kindness looks like and celebrate the kind things they and others do.
Activities like this can also help children revisit their learning in a fun and memorable way as they build the personal and social skills that support them as they prepare for school.
Try this in your setting:
- Create Kindness Crowns together and encourage children to decorate them in their own way.
- Talk and celebrate examples of kindness as you create your crowns – “What does being kind look like?” or “Who has been kind to you today?”
- Share the corresponding Home Connection Pack resource with families so they can further embed the practice of celebrating kindness at home too.
Launching myHappymind
Locking Stumps Community Primary uses the whole-school assemblies to bring pupils and staff together and to further embed the programme. They held a myHappymind day where children attended an assembly and then followed this with a variety of wellbeing activities.
The assemblies are a great way to introduce each new module, establish the key vocabulary and concepts pupils will explore in lessons, and create consistency across year groups. They also provide a valuable opportunity to revisit prior learning from previous modules, helping pupils make connections and embed the myHappymind language and strategies even further.
Try this in your school:
- Use the myHappymind assemblies to launch each new module.
- Revisit shared vocabulary to strengthen retrieval and retention.
- Run a myHappymind themed event and invite parents in to observe a myHappymind lesson!
