Bringing Wellbeing to Life Beyond the Classroom
Fylingdales Church of England School’s Birch Class enjoyed an exciting day at the beach, where they created beautiful myHappymind character-themed beach art! Rooted in kindness and guided by their values of hope, trust, respect and community, the school creates a safe, secure and inclusive environment where every child can flourish. It is wonderful to see children applying their understanding beyond the classroom. Experiences like this show how powerful it is when wellbeing language becomes part of children’s everyday lives, helping them feel calm, connected and ready to explore new environments.
- Take myHappymind beyond the classroom by weaving it into outdoor learning, such as Forest School sessions, nature walks or school trips.
- Use Happy Breathing before new activities or unfamiliar experiences to help children feel calm, safe and ready. Access this resource by clicking here
- Bring the myHappymind characters along on visits or adventures and capture photos of them “in action” to reinforce emotional language and regulation strategies in real-life settings.
Small School Characters, Big Wellbeing Moments
At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, two very special members of the school community are helping to create moments of curiosity and connection: Woody and Buzz, the school guinea pigs who have become a much-loved part of daily school life. Their presence sparks conversations, encourages gentle care and provides calming moments for children throughout the day. Small touches like this can have a big impact on wellbeing culture. When children feel curiosity, connection and responsibility through shared experiences, it strengthens the positive, nurturing environment that helps everyone thrive.
Try this in your primary school:
If your school has a pet, involve them in wellbeing moments or classroom routines
Use school animals to spark conversations about kindness, care and responsibility
Create calming moments where children can spend time with the pet in a quiet space
Do you have a school pet?

Celebrating Positivity Across the School
At Charles Darwin Community Primary school, the Happiness Heroes have been spreading positivity by using the myHappymind Positive Notes resource. Children printed and cut out the notes, ready to recognise and celebrate the positive actions they see around them every day. When pupils spot someone doing something positive, such as using Happy Breathing to regulate, being a supportive friend or showing the Teamwork and Friendship Character Strength, they write a note and pop it into the school’s Positive Post Box. These notes help the Happiness Heroes decide who will receive the weekly myHappymind certificates, and some of the positive messages are shared with the whole school. Activities like this help children notice and celebrate positive behaviours, strengthening resilience, kindness and a culture where wellbeing is recognised and valued.
Try this in your primary school:
Print and display the myHappymind Positive Messages for children to recognise positive behaviours. myHappymind schools can access this resource by clicking here
Create your own positive post box where pupils can submit notes about acts of kindness, resilience or teamwork
Invite pupil wellbeing leaders or Happiness Heroes to help choose weekly certificate winners and share positive messages with the school community

FAQs
myHappymind provides schools with a complete whole school wellbeing programme, that is ready-to-deliver, makes life easier for teachers and creates a coherent culture of wellbeing. It teaches children about how their brain works, and gives them practical life long wellbeing habits like Happy Breathing, gratitude activities and journaling. These tools help children develop emotional awareness and confidence. Schools develop a consistent culture and language of wellbeing.
Examples of quick interventions include wellbeing bags, calm corners, emotional regulation maps, and short breathing exercises. These activities are quick to use and benefit the whole class. We recommend that for the biggest impact on wellbeing, schools not only look at short term interventions, but also consider how they can develop a culture of wellbeing. Schools that do this see a significant long term impact on; wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and inclusion.
myHappymind goes further than one off mental health and wellbeing interventions, it teaches the science of the brain and gives children practical habits for life that support them to manage emotions, build resilience and develop healthy routines that also support learning. It’s a complete whole school programme that supports all children, including those with SEN and SEHM needs.
