What’s your purpose?

Have you ever asked yourself the question “what is my purpose?” If you have, you are definitely not alone. Many of us constantly ask ourselves what our true calling is. What are we supposed to be doing with our lives? Should we have a clear purpose?

Why is this question so hard to answer?

The truth is when we were kids we had a much clearer sense of what we were passionate about. What was it for you? Sport? Reading? Baking? Animals? If you really think back to being a child you’ll remember what it was. But here’s the thing, as we get older and have to ‘grow up’ we tend to let go of so many of those passions in exchange for the real world. When we enter higher education or start to get to the stage where we need to think about our future,  we tend to become conditioned to follow a path that is most ‘sensible’. A path that gives us the best prospect of getting a good job, earning a good income, being able to buy our first house etc. Rarely, are we conditioned to just follow our passion – pretty interesting right?

No wonder we are all still searching for meaning?

So, if most of us stop spending time in our sweet spot when we are kids, is it any wonder that we find ourselves questioning what our true meaning or passion is as adults?
